 Why start a courtship to marriage program?

 I was inspired spiritually to start this program because of a deep, intense concern with the family structure. I noticed there were a lot of single parents in my son's football group. Since, I was one of the Team Moms, I would sometimes ask for their help with projects like volunteering, pep rally, team banquet, etc. They would not be able to assist. I was noticing that they didn’t have time to come to the meetings, volunteer to help start the PTA or help with fundraisers because they were working two jobs. 

The double shifts at work will stress out the single mom or single father when they’re the only provider for the home. So, the child’s parent may be the only provider for 1, 2, 3 or more children and that’s very stressful.

These single parents have to deal with A LOT!!

They have to deal with situations at their job, dealing with their immediate family, dealing with their baby's daddy drama, dealing with their children needing to be on the football, basketball, and cheerleading team.

That’s a lot to deal with as a single parent, and THAT is Why there is a problem!!

Single mom stress overload!

Why are there so many single parents?

What happened to both parents? 

What happened to mom and dad, husband and wife and family?

What was the cause?

What was the breakdown?

Why are there so many dysfunctional, broken black Families?

African-American families are more statistically broken than other races of people! What’s going on? What made that happen? How did the breakdown start?

So by researching and looking at statistics, we notice that this is a very big epidemic!!!

We have a drop from 80% of marriages in the 1950's to 32 % of marriages today!!!

Biblically, we know it was prophesized that this would happen. And the reason it was prophesized is that we fell away from God back then, and still today, we are not close to the Most High God/Yah as we should be.

That's the number 1 reason that we have broken homes.... our single fathers and single mothers who do not have a relationship with the Most High God.  Both men and women are not connected to the laws, statutes and commandments of Yahweh! Therefore, we have lost our way and now we suffer for this and our children suffer.  

That is the reason for Courtship to Marriage program in When Two Becomes One Ministries, which is to help singles to understand the will of God/Yahweh and what He expects from us as a people.

We want to fix the broken singleness and single parent households, especially for our children. We need to make sure they’re understanding what purity is as far as courtship.

Courtship is a process of being pure, connected to the God spiritually. It is when singles are getting connected spiritually by having a relationship with the Father.  

Before you connect with someone else, you want to be connected spiritually inside by becoming one with Our Abba Yah first, and then He will lead you to someone and help you to discern if that person is the one for you. Courtship will be a short process and not a long engagement. It will be monitored by parents, grandparents, pastors, mentors or spiritual leaders. There will definitely not be any sex before marriage, which is how we are losing our young people now. This must be strictly followed because we really desire our young people to be virgins before marriage. 

But, for those who have already engaged in intercourse, we highly recommend abstinence before marriage. We require all students in the program to maintain a sense of purity and be honest to themselves and honest to God. 

We believe that Courtship can help rebuild black families and teach our older and young people how to restore their relationship with God which will help them understand their role in marriage. 

We want to make Marriages beautiful and righteous again.
